Love this! (btw, I failed at the 365 too.) I was blessed to be working so much that I didn't take the time. Instead, I embraced the "original idea" of Instagram and only used my phone. That was back in 2011. Now, I have no idea what my IG is for except not to worry about it!

Glad you loved this, Deborah! And nice to meet someone else who also tried P365 and failed. :).

What's your relationship with photography today?

Yesss, it's nice to meet writers and photographers here! I buried my head, this last year and a half... writing my way out of a hard season - soooo 2024 is all about meeting other Substackers!

I don't think I will ever not have a relationship with photography. It is a part of my heart, it was a huge part of my dad's life.. and it's where I feel so much love for life... behind the lens. Although I lost all my contracts with my pro-work in 2020, I keep my website up as a reminder of what I accomplished rather late in life and I still work on a rare occasion. For now it's so nice to pull images for my writing or do my own images for a story.

So interesting! I like this idea...it’ll work well with my 1000 hours outside challenge...I document with a photo. But observing, noticing more, looking up/looking down and zooming in....all fun ways to get cool shots. Thanks for this info and inspiration! 😊

Joan, I just realized I never responded to this comment. I read it and meant to.

Yes, I recall really enjoying how each day I looked for new and fresh ways to compose and frame shots. Just today, I found myself doing that on a lunchtime walk. :)

Anyway, I'm curious: did you decide to take a photo to complement your 1000 hours outside challenge?

I take a photo a day, but not always outside. Doesn’t have to be nature, anything that pleases me or my eyes I guess! Here in SW MI we’ve had weeks of snow and ice and single degrees... so not many outside hours on my chart this month!

Yay! I'm happy to hear you're taking a photo a day. I remember the challenge of a picture a day during the winter months being much harder than when the weather is better but hopefully you're having fun. Outside 🪟 looms around the corner.
